Some more

Photoshop isn't liking me today. It froze up in protest when I was resizing our family photos, these are the few I got done before its tantrum. There are so many other lovely pictures which I'll have to post another time.

It is late. I should be asleep. The boys are snuggled up in my bed, they keep me company at night right now while Sam is away. On any given night I will usually have one or both of them make their way into my bed for snuggles anyway but they think its pretty cool right now that they can actually go to sleep in my bed and stay there all night.

My minding is running around, hence the lack of sleep. The move, school for Hyrum, packing, all making lots of noise in my head. Hyrum was all set to start his first year of kindergarten next year. He'd attended his orientation days, we'd bought his school uniform, he had his Year 5 buddy all sorted. I had pictured Ashton and I walking him down the road each day, his classroom was nestled under some grand Jacarandas as well as some lovely old trees that put on a beautiful autumn display of colour. I liked that he was going to school with such magestic trees.

But now that vision is changing. And because here in Australia we are still yet to implement universal starting ages and national curriculum, I can't enrol Hyrum in school in Perth for next year. I can put him on a waiting list. And wait. And I'm realising that my vision of taking pictures on his first day of school, out the front of our house in his new school uniform is not going to happen. While all the other kids head off for their first day at school he'll be at home with me.

And I'm really sad about that. But I'm also really intrigued by it too. Because what if, maybe, instead of just sitting around waiting for a place to open up, what if I took advantage of the time I've been given and I homeschooled him? Just a thought that's knocking its way around in my head.
